About Lenny Crotty
I founded LTC FINTECH CONSULTING out of a genuine desire to help growing organizations and commercial leaders navigate the choppy waters of GTM execution, international expansion and business growth by leveraging my experience and, perhaps more importantly, lessons learned after almost 25 years’ operating in the global payments, B2B, ERP, SaaS, and wider fintech arena.
For those of you who don't know me, I was born and raised in a small town in the west of Ireland. Our early family upbringing experience was lower-to-average middle class. These formative years taught me about the dignity of work, and I began to develop the disciplined, blue-collar work ethic that I still have to this day. My first job was selling fruit and vegetables in our local farmer's market after school on Friday and all day on Saturday, come rain or shine (mostly rain). That experience was invaluable and has served me well throughout my career.
My interests at school revolved around history, English literature, economics, and geography. After a very average performance in my final secondary school exams (perhaps you can relate), I entered a local accountancy practice and began working as a trainee accountant. My first weekly paycheck was £41.51 (approximately $50), but the overall eight-year apprenticeship was priceless. I first developed my love for numbers, data, and revenue modeling thanks to my accounting and auditing experience.
In 1997, I entered the world of global enterprise software, cross-border commerce, B2B payments, and commercial sales for the first time. In the first three years after making the transition from finance to technology, I traveled to more than 30 countries selling software and payments, building strategic partnerships, fostering relationships - some of which last to this day - and gathering a keen appreciation for diverse cultures, regional considerations, and how the world generally works.
Our company was expanding, and I relocated from Ireland to the U.S. in February 2000 to help grow and scale the business. Within a year, our small, 50-person firm was acquired by a Nasdaq quoted company named Clarus Corporation for an amount in excess of $60M (a lot of money back then).
Fast-forward to today, and I have had the opportunity to work with some of the largest brands on the internet as well as many global, traditional brick and mortar B2B companies, doing business in more than 60 countries on five continents along the way.
I am an executive member of Pavilion, a global network of commercial and technology leaders. I encourage you to join us at https://www.joinpavilion.com/. In addition, it is my privilege to serve on the governing board of directors of Special Olympics Nevada https://sonv.org/
I don't have a university-level education, but what I do have is a wealth of practical experience and know-how. If your company is beginning its journey into the complex world of international expansion, or you require the expertise needed to optimize your existing, global GTM apparatus or just need solid, business acumen as you scale your start-up, I invite you to contact me to see if I can be of assistance.
